The Ranger is suited to rough or fine grass and can be used with or without the collecting bag. If without, a side-discharge chute can optionally be fitted. Alternatively, by fitting a baffle to the discharge duct, you can cause the clippings to be reduced to a fine mulch. Many owners like to choose between all these options depending on time available and on conditions.

A unique friction disc is fitted between the engine and the blade bar so that the blade will slip if it hits a solid object. Hayter are so confident that this will save the crankshaft from bending (a very expensive procedure if it happens) that they give a lifetime guarantee.

There is a safety lever called the Operator Presence Control which you keep depressed during use. It fits snugly into the handlebar and, when you let go, the blade and engine will stop completely within three seconds. Hayter fit modern engines on all their machines, designed to the latest standards for carbon and noise emissions.
