Cylinder mowers slice grass like scissors, so they need less powerful motors than rotaries. This model has 4 blades on its cylinder and slices against a renewable bottom blade. The rear roller, of course, presses the grass in one direction, leaving the traditional stripes for which British lawns are famous. Electric mowers are much quieter than ones with petrol engines.

The grass collector is lifted out from above for emptying. The fact that it is at the rear, unlike most cylinder mowers, makes it easier to manoeuvre the machine close to obstacles.
